Zest.

Efficiency.

Spontaneity.

A transplanted southern cook all about emphasizing creativity in the kitchen.

Why did I create Eat Sagely? By establishing an archive of recipes that are often creative but easily adaptable, hopefully readers feel inspired to embrace flexibility in the kitchen, even if working with food intolerances or dietary restrictions. Everyone can be an artist in the kitchen, and every artist constantly refines skills.

I’ve adored cooking for over a decade, having been raised around talented home cooks (my nana is the Michelangelo of pot roast!). In my late teens I got involved with a food co-op centered around weekly dinner preparation for large crowds, so we’d plan meals based around many varied dietary restrictions. That experience, followed by pocketing tips from friends in the industry and living with my own GI issues and food intolerances, cemented a joy for developing flavorful recipes; I especially love customizing favorite regional dishes to suit those needs. Furthermore, preparing food and sharing a meal with someone is a defining aspect of  human connection across borders, languages, and cultures.

The name “Eat Sagely” intends to evoke mindfulness at the market, in the kitchen, at the dinner table…while intersecting mindfulness and joy. I live for the contrasts between colors, flavors, textures, and expectations.  Most good things, such as improvisation, regimented “meal prep,” healthful eating, and decadent indulgences, flourish while balanced. The kitchen is the best place to start making some consciously spontaneous decisions!

Salute!
